Getting Started With Your Minecraft Server
Getting Started With Your Minecraft Server
Get your friends playing in about 5 minutes. This applies to all our Java server types: Paper, Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge.
1. Start it
Open the Console tab and click Start. Wait for Done! in the log. The first start takes a minute or two while the world generates.
2. Get your address
Your address (like us-central-01.hxshost.com:25565) is on the Console page and your dashboard. In Minecraft, your friends go to Multiplayer → Add Server and paste it in.
3. Make yourself an admin (op)
Join your server once, then open the Console tab and type op YourName. That gives you in-game operator powers. (The Players tab is for seeing who's online and kicking or banning.)
Where everything lives
- Console and Players tabs at the top.
- Configuration menu: Mods (plugins and mods), Server Settings (world options), Startup.
- Utilities menu: Backups and Schedules.
Server type matters for add-ons: Paper uses plugins; Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge use mods. They are not interchangeable.
Friend can't connect? Check they used the full address including the port, and that the server shows Running.
